Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Monologues

Requirements

Two Contrasting monologues, 90 sec each max

One classical monologue from a play written before 1800

One contemporary/realism monologue from a published play

No screenplays or teleplays

Both monologues must be memorized

Two letters from teachers or persons who can speak to the applicant's character and potential

Application Logistics

The Acceptd portal lists the 3-Year Conservatory as not currently open; next-cycle application dates have not been published

The Studio uses rolling admissions after a cycle opens; apply early because limited places can lead to a wait-list

Submit an online application through Acceptd or the Studio's online application form

30 hours per week, September through May

Three-year program (six semesters)

Eligibility

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older

International students are accepted and may apply for an F-1 visa

Informal tours are typically offered Tuesdays at 4:00pm; contact the Studio to reserve

What's The Process

Audition Process

After the interview and audition, applicants will be notified if they are invited to the final callback auditions

In-person auditions available at regional and international locations

Participates in URTA and SETC auditions

Application fee waived for audition tour locations

Audition Expectations

Admission is by interview and audition

In-person auditions held on scheduled audition days

Zoom video auditions also available

Recorded video auditions accepted if live audition is not feasible — live auditions strongly encouraged

Decisions

Applicants notified of outcome within two weeks of submission

Scholarships

Stella Adler Scholarship Fund — amount varies

Sonia Sanchez Scholarship Fund — up to full tuition for BIPOC actors

Elaine Stritch Scholarship Fund — $2,000

Harold Clurman Scholarship Fund — $1,000

Scholarship priority dates for the next Conservatory cycle have not been published

Scholarships are awarded through an essay application after acceptance, based on financial need, merit, and talent

Work Study

Assistantship positions are available beginning in year two

Selection considers performance, good standing, and financial need

Selected students receive reduced tuition

Veterans

A 10% tuition discount is available for veterans
