Critical and creative thinking laboratory nurturing women of the African Diaspora

CURRICULUM

50-credit major divided into four areas: Technique, Theory, Choreographic Process, and Performance
Technique classes include Contemporary Modern, African Dance Forms, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Improvisation
Three levels of Choreographic Process culminating in interdisciplinary collaboration and Capstone
Theory courses include Black Presence in American Dance, Dance for Camera, and Navigating the Business of Dance

PERFORMANCE

Spelman Dance Theatre provides opportunities to learn from and perform with innovative professional choreographers
All majors participate in four semesters of Dance Performance with the company
