•The BM Performance program gives Brass students intensive principal-instrument study within Southwestern’s liberal-arts setting
•Faculty members bring national and international performing experience, and the Sarofim Music Series adds visiting artists and master classes
Training
•The Instrumental Performance plan includes music literature, theory, ear training, instrumental pedagogy, conducting, principal applied study, and a secondary instrument
•Brass students build a long-term performance plan with ensemble study and the technical foundation needed for teaching, professional work, or graduate study
Performance & Productions
•Music students participate in a department that presents more than 50 concerts and recitals each year, including Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Orchestra, and chamber opportunities
•The BM capstone is supported by the sophomore barrier examination, semester juries, and a junior and senior recital
Facilities
•Rehearsal rooms, practice spaces, recital venues, and the Fine Arts Center support daily individual practice and collaborative performance
