Program Overview
•BA degree with 35-36 credits in the major area
•Designed for students who have a second major or multiple minors
•Solid grounding in theatre history, literature, performance, and design/production practices
•No audition required for admission to the theatre major
•Part of the Sarofim School of Fine Arts at Texas's oldest university (founded 1840)
Curriculum
•Theatre Core: Design Fundamentals, Fundamentals of Acting, Theatre Laboratory (6 semesters), Theatre History, Theatre Capstone
•Movement and Voice course required
•Choice of Devising or Playwriting
•Choice of Costume Design, Scenic Design, or Lighting Design
•One additional upper-level Theatre course
•11:1 student-to-faculty ratio with close faculty mentoring
Performance & Productions
•Multiple mainstage productions each season across three performance venues
•Student directors given opportunities to direct fully produced productions in the black box
•Opera Theatre open to all students by audition
