Training
•18-credit minor requires Music History I & II and Music Theory I & II, plus 6 elective credits chosen from performance-skills courses (Voice Class, Guitar, Fundamentals of Piano, Musicianship) or music-literature electives such as Jazz History, African-American Music, Popular Music or Music of the Jewish People
•Students with prior background may substitute advanced courses — for example Baroque Music in place of Music History I, or Music Theory III/IV in place of the introductory theory sequence
Performance & Productions
•Minors must participate in a Department of Music performing group for three semesters, choosing from ensembles including University Choir, Symphonic Band, Chamber Singers, Percussion Ensemble, String Ensemble and Guitar Ensemble
•Music minors are eligible for the tuition-free Stutzman Family Foundation Applied Lessons Program, taking weekly private instruction in voice or an instrument of their choice alongside majors, with a jury exam each spring
