•33-credit music therapy major sequence spans Introduction to Music Therapy through three sequential practicum courses (MUT 341-343), clinical improvisation and compositional/receptive methods, culminating in an Internship in Music Therapy that must be taken twice
•A 58-credit cognate pairs applied lessons in voice, guitar and piano (each taken three times) with the music theory and musicianship sequences through Level IV, plus psychology coursework in lifespan development, abnormal psychology and brain and behavior
Professional Development
•Majors take the Creative Music Orchestra, an ensemble designed primarily for music therapy students to build ensemble-leadership, arranging and improvisation skills used in clinical practice
•MUT 325 covers professional ethics and cultural humility ahead of the sequential practicum and twice-repeated internship placements that prepare students for professional music therapy practice
