PROGRAM RECOGNITION
•Students compete annually at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF)
•Multiple students have earned top honors at regionals and advanced to the national festival at the Kennedy Center
TRAINING
•Four-show season with close faculty mentoring in acting, design, and tech
•Guest artists and designers with Broadway and Off-Broadway experience
•Crescent Players student-run production organization co-presents shows with the department
•Coursework covers acting, dancing, elocution, design, technical theater, history, and dramaturgy
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
•Located in New Haven with direct access to regional and NYC professional theatre
•Internships at Long Wharf Theatre, Hartford Stage, Elm Shakespeare Company, and Goodspeed Musicals
•Costume shop collaborates on outside productions including Yale Opera and Elm Shakespeare Company
FACILITIES
•Housed in the John Lyman Center for the Performing Arts with a 1,568-seat mainstage and 125-seat black box
•Fully equipped scenic design lab, costume shop, and six dressing rooms
DEGREE FLEXIBILITY
•Pathway to teacher certification in theatre arts (cross endorsement)
•Accelerated pathway option allows seniors to earn dual credit toward a graduate degree
