Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Repertoire

Perform a solo or etude selection of your choice

Contrasting technical and musical styles are encouraged

Pianists: one movement of a sonata by Mozart, Haydn, or Beethoven plus one contrasting piece of your choice

Memorization is not required for the piano selection

Accompaniment

Bring your own accompaniment if your selection requires it

In-person audition on campus on your principal instrument

Perform a prepared solo or etude of your choice; contrasting technical and musical styles are encouraged (pianists follow the piano repertoire)

Auditioning does not guarantee admission to the program
