Program snapshot
Brass students in the Performance concentration receive private instruction every semester and complete a juried performance with a minimum passing grade of 75 percent. The degree requires at least two ensembles each semester and 16 ensemble units overall, so applied study is reinforced by sustained rehearsal and performance. Brass musicians can work in Concert Band, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Brass Ensemble, and chamber groups.
The sequence culminates in a 30-minute junior recital and a 55-minute senior recital. Performances take place within the Green Music Center's professional concert environment, including Weill Hall and Schroeder Hall, while chamber work gives brass players experience with smaller, player-led repertoire.
