•Bullet: Ten-course major combining critical media studies with production coursework across cinema, television, video games, internet video, and video art
•Bullet: Foundational course FMS 150 introduces the aesthetics of film, the history of television, and the technologies of digital media
•Bullet: Production courses — Introduction to Video Production, Screenwriting Workshop, and Advanced Moving Image Production — require an application and instructor permission
•Bullet: No more than four of the ten major courses may be production courses
Degree Flexibility
•Bullet: Three-course focus area designed by each student with their adviser, normally chosen by the second semester of junior year
•Bullet: Focus options include documentary, digital media, media production, television studies, popular culture, identity and representation in media, media industries, and more
•Bullet: At least one advanced course must be a 300-level FMS seminar, and one media studies course must center on documentary or experimental/avant-garde media
