Training
•Ten-course major combining critical media studies with production coursework across cinema, television, video games, internet video, and video art
•Foundational course FMS 150 introduces the aesthetics of film, the history of television, and the technologies of digital media
•Production courses — Introduction to Video Production, Screenwriting Workshop, and Advanced Moving Image Production — require an application and instructor permission
•No more than four of the ten major courses may be production courses
Degree Flexibility
•Three-course focus area designed by each student with their adviser, normally chosen by the second semester of junior year
•Focus options include documentary, digital media, media production, television studies, popular culture, identity and representation in media, media industries, and more
•At least one advanced course must be a 300-level FMS seminar, and one media studies course must center on documentary or experimental/avant-garde media
