•Bullet: The MM Conducting concentration contains choral, orchestral and wind emphases. Advanced conducting, applied study, theory and score work lead toward recital-level leadership, with the chosen ensemble tradition shaping repertory, gesture, rehearsal method and program building.
Performance & Productions
•Bullet: SIU's ensembles and extensive concert calendar provide the living setting for conducting study. Students work with the practical demands of rehearsal, interpretation and performance rather than treating conducting only as a classroom technique.
Professional Development
•Bullet: The degree supports advanced ensemble leadership, college-level work and doctoral preparation. An individualized live or recorded admission assessment is arranged with faculty, mirroring the close mentorship used to plan the graduate course of study.
Facilities
•Bullet: Altgeld Hall, Shryock Auditorium and Old Baptist Foundation supply rehearsal rooms, performance venues, practice facilities and recording resources for choral, orchestral and wind activity.
