Training
•Guitar Performance centers on individual applied study, master classes, repertory, technique and chamber collaboration. The BM sequence adds musicianship, history and pedagogy to intensive work with guitar faculty, leading toward the professional expectations of a senior recital.
Performance & Productions
•Guitarists can perform in Guitar Ensemble, jazz groups and other chamber settings while developing solo repertory. The Southern Illinois International Guitar Festival brings concerts, workshops and visiting artists to the same campus community.
Professional Development
•Faculty coaching, ensemble rehearsal and master-class performance cultivate audition preparation, recital planning and collaborative habits. Pedagogy study adds a teaching dimension to the performing credential.
Facilities
•Altgeld Hall, Shryock Auditorium and Old Baptist Foundation provide practice rooms, rehearsal spaces, recital settings and recording support across the School of Music.
