Training
•The Performance area builds on the BA Theater sequence in voice, movement, acting and directing, with theater history, dramatic literature, script analysis and production courses supporting the actor's interpretive work. The liberal-arts degree leaves room to connect performance study with another academic interest.
Performance & Productions
•SIU presents up to six plays and musicals during the academic year, with additional work through McLeod Summer Playhouse, workshops and readings. Students perform in the approximately 499-seat McLeod Theater and the flexible 100-to-110-seat Christian H. Moe Laboratory Theater.
Professional Development
•Guest-artist master classes and student-led groups such as Alpha Psi Omega and the Association of Theatre Leaders provide further rehearsal, leadership and production contact. The department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre.
