Statement (Letter of Intent)

•Statement PDF should describe your awareness of the Music Scoring for Screen and Stage program and how it supports your goals

•Statement maximum: 500 words

Letters of Recommendation

•Upload one academic or work-related reference letter as a PDF

•Recommendation letter should support your experience, expertise, and commitment to the area of study

•Recommendation letter must include the reference's contact information

Portfolio / Creative Sample

•Portfolio must include score recording(s) of original music

•Music degree or diploma applicants with minimum 2.5 GPA submit one original piece

•Portfolio for applicants using work or life experience must include three original pieces in varied musical styles

•Portfolio recordings should be 2-5 minutes each

Sheet Music

•Submit sheet music PDF transcription(s) of the recording(s) for all instruments

•Sheet music transcriptions may be handwritten or software-generated

•Sheet music should show understanding of written requirements and dynamic capabilities of instruments

Creative Sample

•Creative sample may be a behind-the-scenes description of how your music was produced from initial ideas through instrumentation, performance, and recording decisions

•Creative sample written PDF should be 250-500 words; video should be maximum 3 minutes

Eligibility

•Music-related postsecondary diploma, advanced diploma, or degree with overall GPA of 2.5, or demonstrated experience

•Applicants without the formal credential may be considered with five years of demonstrated experience

•Postsecondary transcripts are required

•Fall intake at the Trafalgar Campus

What's The Process

Portfolio Review

•No live audition is published for admission

•Eligible applicants are selected by previous academic achievement or five years of demonstrated experience plus portfolio assessment

•Required package includes a letter of intent, one reference letter, and a portfolio

•Portfolio includes score recording(s), transcriptions, and a behind-the-scenes process sample

•Sheridan advises applicants to submit documents as soon as possible because seats may fill quickly

Decisions

•Admission decisions are sent to the applicant's Sheridan email account

•Decisions are not released by phone

•Fee, registration, and timetable information follow for admitted applicants
