Application Logistics

Step 1: Apply to SF State via Cal State Apply

Step 2: Submit a performance audition video on your instrument via the School of Music audition form (Qualtrics)

Placement Evaluations

Admitted BM students take Music Theory, Ear Training, and Piano placement evaluations the Thursday before classes begin — for course placement only, not admission

Students may enroll in MUS 130 instead of taking the Theory and Ear Training evaluations

Scholarship

Applicants who submit a video audition are automatically considered for music scholarships
