Training
•Bullet: Guitar is the student’s applied performance area while the professional curriculum prepares teachers for band, orchestra, choir and general music.
•Bullet: Fieldwork begins in the first year; published courses include instrumental methods, inclusive-classroom music methods, elementary and secondary methods and supervised student teaching.
•Bullet: Guitarists study with named faculty member Raymond Myers and have a dedicated Guitar Ensemble among the department’s specialized groups.
•Bullet: The guitarist pathway can also connect to the Commercial Music Ensemble for amplified and contemporary ensemble work.
Professional Development
•Bullet: Students may join Seton Hill’s collegiate chapter of the National Association for Music Education and work with faculty from both music and education.
