Scholarship Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Optional audition for scholarship consideration only; it is not required for program admission.

Repertoire List (Required for Scholarship Audition)

Prepare two representative pieces; expect to perform about five minutes of each, and excerpts or movements from longer works are acceptable

Scholarship Material (Required for Electronic Audition)

Submit a publicly accessible online performance from the last 12 months; YouTube or Vimeo video links are accepted, and audio files may be WAV or MP3

Resume (Required for Scholarship Audition)

Provide a music background narrative or resume with experience, teachers, years of study, repertoire, awards, and achievements

Application Flow

Apply to SPU through the Common App or SPU application

No audition is required for entry to the Music BA; the Fine and Performing Arts audition form is for scholarship consideration only

Students entering SPU who list the Music major as their first choice on the university application gain entry to the major

Music major entry after the first quarter requires good academic standing at SPU

Applicants may audition in more than one fine arts field

What's The Process

Scholarship Audition

No audition is required for entry to the Music BA

Music auditions are for Fine and Performing Arts scholarship consideration only

Auditions are open to prospective and current students, but scholarship awards require admission to SPU

On-campus Music auditions are available February 16, 2026

Electronic scholarship submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. on February 20, 2026

On-campus auditions are 10 minutes long; practice rooms open 30 minutes before the audition

Keyboard Format

Keyboard applicants follow the pianist format: prepare two representative pieces

Perform unaccompanied unless you prefer to bring a play-along setup

Scholarship Info

Music Scholarships

Fine and Performing Arts scholarships are merit-based, non-need-based awards renewable up to four years

Current SPU audition page lists awards up to $1,500 each year

Awards stack with other SPU merit scholarships

Music major not required to audition for a scholarship

Scholarship award requires admission to SPU

Decisions are generally made by mid-March
