•Prepared for voice with piano accompaniment

•Recommended diversity of genres: art song, opera, theatre, musical theatre, or contemporary styles

•A pianist will be provided for in-person auditions

Program Requirements

•Link to a publicly accessible online performance (YouTube or Vimeo accepted)

•Performance must be from the last 12 months

•"Unlisted" or "private" settings acceptable if the link works for anyone who has it

•Piano proficiency exam required for all music majors

•Ensemble participation required each academic quarter

Important Notes

•In-person: Register for the on-campus audition on February 16, 2026

•Electronic: Submit via SPU's electronic audition form by February 20, 2026

What's The Process

Audition Process

•No audition required for entry to the music program

•Admission is through the university application only

•Auditions are for music scholarship consideration only

•Auditions are approximately 10 minutes long

•Practice rooms available 30 minutes before your audition

•Must provide a music background narrative or resume at audition

•Results dependent on admission to SPU

Scholarship Info

Music Scholarships

•Merit-based, non-need-based awards renewable up to four years

•Up to $1,500 per year

•Stackable with any other merit scholarship from SPU

•Music major not required to receive a scholarship

•All prospective and current students may audition

•Must be admitted to SPU to receive a scholarship award

•Decisions generally made by mid-March
