Training
•Three-year, 60-63 unit MFA curriculum balancing theoretical coursework, studio work, production assignments, and close consultation with faculty advisors
•Emphasis options in scenic design, costume design and technology, lighting design, projection and integrated media, production design, and technical direction
•Students may take on design responsibilities as their capabilities permit and complete an intensive internship, often assisting a professional designer or working in a television or film studio
Professional Development
•Direct exposure to Southern California theatre, television, film, and entertainment professionals inside and outside the academic environment
•Fellowship and professional opportunities with community partners including The Old Globe, Cygnet Theatre, and MOXIE Theatre
•Training supports careers in professional design and technology as well as college-level teaching
•Alumni have worked with Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Theme Parks, LAIKA, SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment, The Old Globe, La Jolla Playhouse, San Diego Opera, Broadway productions and tours, television productions, and major film projects
