Audition Requirements
Monologues
TWO MONOLOGUES, 60-90 sec each
•ONE CONTEMPORARY MONOLOGUE from a published play or by a professional writer
•ONE CLASSICAL OR HEIGHTENED LANGUAGE MONOLOGUE from a published play or by a professional writer
-Heightened language includes Shakespeare, Molière, Marlowe, Middleton, Kyd, Aristophanes
-Also includes August Wilson, Tony Kushner, Suzan-Lori Parks, Mike Bartlett, contemporary adaptations of classical plays
MATERIAL SELECTION
•Active monologues recommended — real-time communication with an imaginary scene partner
•Avoid pieces that rely on extreme emotions

•Waist-up frame recommended for monologues
BACKGROUND
•Solid-colored walls ideal, any non-distracting background acceptable

•Select Pre-Major as "Theatre Arts – Performance (662595)" on Cal State Apply
•Cal State Apply filing fee: $70 (non-refundable)
DUAL APPLICATION OPTION
•Can apply for BOTH BA Theatre Arts (Performance) and BA Musical Theatre via Acceptd Option #3
•Additional song requirements apply for dual application
ELIGIBILITY
•Fall enrollment only
•Students denied admission cannot reapply until the following academic year
•Students who wish to apply with a General Theatre Arts emphasis are not required to audition

VIDEO AUDITION
•Video-only audition — no live auditions offered at SDSU
•Acceptd application takes the place of a live audition
•Submit via Acceptd between October 1 – December 30
•Select "OPTION #1: BA Theatre Arts (Performance) only" on Acceptd
