Program Highlights
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
•Inclusive curriculum integrating physical, creative, and analytical practices
•Courses offered in modern/postmodern contemporary styles, classical ballet, yoga, African dance, capoeira, jazz, classical Indian dance, and more
•Composition, improvisation, contact improvisation, Laban motif, dance history, music for dancers, dance and media, lighting design/stagecraft, and anatomy are all part of the curriculum
•Students create individual programs and meet with advisers to discuss objectives and progress
TRAINING & PERFORMANCE
•A yearlong Dance Third includes daily physical practice and individualized movement training sessions addressing strength, flexibility, alignment, and coordination
•Students' own creative work is the center of the dance experience; all students expected to participate in technical aspects of producing concerts
•Frequent projects with guest choreographers and visiting artists
•Interdisciplinary approach encouraged — Music Thirds and Theatre Thirds may take dance components

What's The Process
ADMISSION PROCESS
•No audition or prescreen required for admission to the dance program
•Any student admitted to Sarah Lawrence may study dance regardless of whether an arts supplement was submitted
•Prospective and admitted students are welcome to observe classes
INTERVIEWS
•Optional admission interviews available online through the SLC portal; also accepted via InitialView or Vericant
•Early Action / ED I interview deadline: November 10
•ED II interview deadline: January 19
•Regular Decision interview deadline: January 31
DECISION TIMELINE
•Early Action / ED I decisions released: late December
•ED II decisions released: early February
•Regular Decision decisions released: late March through early April
•Enrollment deposit due May 1
