PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Inclusive curriculum integrating physical, creative, and analytical practices
Courses offered in modern/postmodern contemporary styles, classical ballet, yoga, African dance, capoeira, jazz, classical Indian dance, and more
Composition, improvisation, contact improvisation, Laban motif, dance history, music for dancers, dance and media, lighting design/stagecraft, and anatomy are all part of the curriculum
Students create individual programs and meet with advisers to discuss objectives and progress

TRAINING & PERFORMANCE

A yearlong Dance Third includes daily physical practice and individualized movement training sessions addressing strength, flexibility, alignment, and coordination
Students' own creative work is the center of the dance experience; all students expected to participate in technical aspects of producing concerts
Frequent projects with guest choreographers and visiting artists
Interdisciplinary approach encouraged — Music Thirds and Theatre Thirds may take dance components
