20-unit Instrumental concentration within the AA Music degree

Includes Theory/Musicianship, Performance Ensemble, Applied Music, and Instrumental Electives

Four semesters of Applied Music on your instrument required

Ensemble options include Symphonic Band, Orchestra, and Concert Choir

Audition Process

Open admission — no audition required for program enrollment

Post-Enrollment

Audition required for Applied Music placement (private instruction on your instrument)

Prepare a short piece, etude, or excerpt from standard repertoire for your instrument

Auditions held live in Forsyth Hall, Room 105

Music Scholarships

Over $30,000 in scholarships available for students who play or sing in performance ensembles

You do not need to be a music major to qualify

Must be enrolled in at least 6 units to be eligible

Scholarship auditions held each spring

Choose 1 piece with musical contrast, or 2 short pieces (5-minute time limit)

Successful scholarship audition also qualifies for Applied Music placement
