Training
•12-unit Voice Certificate of Achievement available beginning Fall 2026, combining sequenced solo-vocal study with choral and stage-performance ensembles
•Required voice study totals 6 units: Music 50A Elementary Voice, Music 50B Intermediate Voice, and Music 57 Advanced Vocal Performance Techniques
•Students choose 2 units from Music 55 Concert Chorale or Music 59 Chamber Choir, then complete at least 4 additional units from Opera Workshop, Advanced Opera Production, Musical Theatre Workshop, Advanced Production – Musical Theatre, Jazz Vocal Ensemble, Concert Chorale, or Chamber Choir
•Program outcomes emphasize healthy, self-aware vocal technique, sight-reading, stylistic interpretation across traditions, independent and collaborative performance, and professional self-promotion
Performance & Productions
•Voice classes use a master-class format, and the required/elective ensemble menu connects students with choral, jazz-vocal, musical-theatre, and opera performance
•Music 57 culminates in public recital experience for advanced singers

•Music instruction is based in SMC's Performing Arts Center, including the Music Hall, Broad Stage, Edye Second Space, and student practice rooms
