•22-unit Dance Teaching Certificate of Achievement effective Fall 2026, designed for students preparing to teach dance or integrate movement into pre-K and elementary classrooms
•The 13-unit required core includes Dance 10 Fundamentals of Dance Technique, Dance 75/ECE 75 Dance for Children, Dance 90B Dance Internship, ECE 2 Principles and Practices of Teaching Young Children, and Psychology 11 Child Growth and Development
•Students add 3 units of Dance History plus 2 units each in Ballet, Contemporary Modern Dance, and World or Commercial Dance, choosing from published technique sequences in hip hop, jazz, tap, ballroom, Asian Pacific, Mexican, Flamenco, African, and Salsa dance
•Program outcomes emphasize designing lesson plans and dance programs, teaching creative movement and safe alignment, generating instructional materials, and developing technical and creative proficiency across dance genres
Professional Development
•The required Dance Internship connects pedagogy and child-development coursework with supervised field experience and career preparation for schools, private studios, fitness centers, and community programs

•Dance training takes place in the Core Performance Center's dedicated studios, with department master classes, artist residencies, and fully produced performance activity supporting the certificate's technique work
