Program Recognition
•Certificate of Achievement in Commercial Dance (Program Code SAC.DNCD.CA), a 26-unit certificate in Santa Ana College's Dance Department
•The department designs this certificate for advanced students and recommends consulting Dance faculty before enrolling — it builds on existing technique rather than starting from fundamentals
Training
•The 20-unit core is upper-level technique: Commercial Dance III/IV, Jazz Dance III/IV, and Hip-Hop Dance III, plus Choreography for Dance Majors and two semesters of Dance Production
•Two required semesters of Dance Touring Ensemble (DNCE 205A/205B) put students into an actual touring performance group as coursework, alongside Professional Studio Practices, which trains studio-teaching methodology directly
•The certificate closes with Dance Practicum and a required internship — a supervised placement, not another studio class
Professional Development
•Learning outcomes name specific industry skills: audition and interview preparation, resume development, social media marketing, and entrepreneurial networking for commercial and entertainment work
•Students present a personal portfolio and articulate goals tied to their assigned dance internship as the program's capstone
