Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Virtual Audition

Two contrasting dance styles in one video

At least one style should emphasize rhythm, musicality and your unique individuality

May use class combinations or performance videos edited into one link

Do not submit group choreography unless you are easily identifiable

Introduce yourself and credit the composer/music artist and choreographer at the start

In-Person Audition

Audition day: Saturday, Nov. 22

Learn combinations in rooted jazz, contemporary, ballet and tap

Tap participation is optional

Audition runs 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (doors open at 9 a.m. for warmup)

Application Logistics

Apply via Common App and select dance as your major

Complete the dance audition form on your student status page after Salve receives your application

Even students auditioning in person must submit the audition form; the Salve application remains incomplete until the form is submitted

Admission Pathway

Students may audition virtually by submitting a video and completing a scheduled virtual interview

The current dance page still lists the prior Fall 2026 in-person audition day; next-cycle exact in-person audition date was not published when verified in July 2026

Important Notes

Applicants are automatically considered for Visual and Performing Arts scholarship consideration

Select dance as the first major to be eligible for arts scholarships

Recipients are notified at the time of admission

Transfer Pathway

Eligible CCRI associate-degree graduates can use Salve's Rhode Island Guarantee pathway toward the BA Dance program, with guaranteed admission/seamless credit transfer when GPA and program eligibility rules are met. Transfer applicants for dance still submit the required dance audition through the student status page.
