Monologues

Two Contrasting Monologues, 60-90 Sec Each

One dramatic monologue

One comedic monologue

Contemporary monologues encouraged

Should demonstrate range and clear contrast between selections

Material Selection

Work with your drama teacher to select material suited to your age, type, and facility with language

Pay attention to enunciation, pronunciation, vocal and expressive choices

Choose pieces that create a believable character and tell a compelling story

Bobbi Biron Theatre Scholarship

Awarded to incoming first-year or current SU students showing outstanding dedication and promise in theatre

Renewable annually with 3.0 cumulative GPA in Theatre coursework

Must participate in theatre productions and remain a theatre major

Gerald and Bette Jane Patt Scholarship

Up to $300 for incoming first-year theatre major with declared track

Requires 3.0 GPA and outstanding achievement in theatre

Renewable with full-time load, 3.0 GPA, and contribution to productions

Additional Awards

Leland Starnes Memorial Scholarship: for sophomore or junior theatre major demonstrating growth and professionalism

Joanne Young Award: monetary awards to two theatre majors for hard work and dedication
