Good to Know

Scholarship Eligibility

Music merit scholarship audition open to all incoming first-year students regardless of major

Must apply to the college before auditioning

Must be admitted to receive the scholarship

Students are awarded a scholarship in only one area; auditioning in multiple areas does not increase the award

Scholarship Maintenance

Must be full-time and participate in a major ensemble 7 of 8 semesters

Perform on the instrument or voice for which the scholarship was awarded

Ensembles include Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Guitar Ensemble, Jam Band, and Jazz Band

Placement

Admitted students complete music theory placement during onboarding for course placement only, not admission

What's The Process

Audition Process

No audition is required for admission to the music major — admission is through college acceptance

Optional Music Merit Scholarship audition for your principal instrument or voice

Both in-person campus auditions and virtual video submissions are accepted

Faculty evaluate technical skills, musicality, and potential as a performer

Audition Expectations

Introduce yourself with your name, school, audition pieces, and composer for each

Position yourself 6-7 feet from the camera with full range of motion visible

For instrumental auditions, keep the music stand from blocking the view of your hands

Upload the video to YouTube and submit the link via the SNC Scholarship Video Audition Form

Music Merit Scholarship

Up to $8,000 disbursed over four years ($2,000/year)

Renewable each year while studying at SNC and participating in a major ensemble

Available for voice, string, brass, woodwind, percussion, and keyboard musicians

Open to all incoming first-year students regardless of major
