Optional audition for scholarship consideration - not required for program admission.

Dance

Scholarship Audition: Self-Choreographed Solo

•Choreograph a solo in any dance genre (1-2 minutes)

•Create a title that captures your concept

•Choose music or a sound score that supports your work

•The solo must be choreographed by you

•Costumes are not necessary

•Email video to Prof. Rogelio Lopez by the specified deadline

Scholarship Callback: Group Dance Class

•90-minute group class covering modern, contemporary, ballet, and jazz

•No dress code; socks or split soles for modern/contemporary, ballet slippers optional

•Followed by small group faculty interviews

•Apply to Saint Mary's College via Common App

Scholarship Application

•Scholarship applications open in October, due December 1

•Must be accepted to Saint Mary's before the audition date

•Apply for the scholarship separately after submitting Common App

•Only one Performing Arts scholarship awarded per student, but students may audition for multiple programs

What's The Process

No Audition Required

•No audition is required for admission to the Dance program

•Admission is via Common App only

•Students audition for performance ensembles, including the Saint Mary's College Dance Company, during the first week of each semester

Scholarship Audition

•$5,000/year Performing Arts Scholarship available to incoming first-year students

•Submit a self-choreographed dance solo (1-2 minutes, any genre) by video before audition day

•In-person: 90-minute group dance class followed by small group faculty interviews

•Virtual: Zoom dance class followed by faculty interview in breakout rooms

•Scholarship auditions typically held in January

•Results announced by mid-February
