•Bullet: Voice (Choral Program): you should come prepared to sing at least 16 bars; your selection can be in any style that you feel most comfortable with, your part on a selection from your current choir, or a solo selection
•Bullet: Woodwinds and brass: excerpt(s) for your instrument from the Band & Orchestra audition PDF, and a piece of your choice that best demonstrates your ability both in technical and lyrical playing
•Bullet: Strings: a piece of your choosing that best demonstrates your ability level
•Bullet: Percussion: the required percussion excerpts, and a piece of your choosing that you are comfortable with
•Bullet: Guitar, bass guitar and piano: two pieces of contrasting styles
Sheet Music (in-Person Choral Auditions)
•Bullet: Provide sheet music for the accompanist
Audition Video
•Bullet: Choral: one selection is required, you may submit an alternate contrasting selection if desired; about 45 seconds up to a minute; sing a cappella, with piano accompaniment, or with a backing track; recorded within the last 2 months prior to submission, of clear viewing quality
•Bullet: Choral, say on the video: your full name, where you are from, your high school and what choir or choirs you currently sing with as well as your voice part; the undergraduate degree program for which you are applying or have been accepted to at SHU; the name of the piece you will be singing
•Bullet: Band and orchestra: the audition should be in one continuous video
•Bullet: Band and orchestra, say on the video: your full name and instrument (if you play other instruments, include this also), where you’re from, and current playing experience; the undergraduate degree program for which you are applying or have been accepted to at SHU; announce each piece you will be playing
•Bullet: Upload to YouTube, mark the video as Unlisted, and email the link to choirs@sacredheart.edu (choral) or bandorchestra@sacredheart.edu (band and orchestra)
