Audition is separate from university admission and is not required for acceptance

Eligibility

All enrolled SHU students may participate in the Theatre Arts Program regardless of major

Audition required only for grant consideration and placement

Transfer Pathway

Sacred Heart's CT Guarantee lists Theatre Arts among the majors with a guaranteed admission pathway for CT Community College graduates (CSCU transfer system associate degree, minimum 2.5 GPA); the guarantee is major-wide and does not publish Musical-Theatre-concentration-specific terms.

What's The Process

Audition Format

Sing at least 32 BARS or perform one monologue (up to 3 min)

Audition determines Performing Arts Grant eligibility and program placement

Not required for university admission

In-Person Audition

Approximately 10 minutes

Bring sheet music for the accompanist

Schedule via the SHU performing arts audition portal or contact theatrearts@sacredheart.edu

Video Audition

Upload to YouTube as unlisted and email link to theatrearts@sacredheart.edu

Include a slate: full name, hometown, high school, degree program, song name, and show

Video must have clear viewing and audio quality
