•BMus (Hons) Jazz is a specialist four-year course for jazz performers
•Clarinet (Jazz) students train in RBC's Jazz Department with one-to-one specialist tuition, small-group coaching, and private practice
•Course modules are designed specifically for jazz musicians, with improvisation and composition central to developing an individual voice
•Giacomo Smith provides the published clarinet-specialist perspective within the jazz faculty.
•Woodwind-doubling tutor Paul Saunders adds multi-reed flexibility to the single-reed route.
Performance & Productions
•Students perform through Eastside Jazz Club, RBC's dedicated jazz venue
•Large ensembles include Jazz Orchestra, Rep Big Band, Salsa Orchestra, and Banda Brasileira
•RBC's Cheltenham Jazz Festival partnership gives selected Jazz students festival and fringe performance opportunities
Facilities
•Students use the 57 million GBP Conservatoire building with Bradshaw Concert Hall, Recital Hall, The Lab, Eastside Jazz Club, seven recording studios, and 70+ practice rooms
