Prescreen Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Songs

Recall Self-Tape (Stage 2)

•One unaccompanied song — verse and chorus only, up to 1.5 minutes

•Singing ability is not being assessed; RADA wants to see how you communicate in a different medium

•Any song of your choice

Monologues

Preliminary Self-Tape (Stage 1)

•One classical speech, up to 2 minutes

•One contemporary speech, up to 2 minutes

•1-minute introduction with your name, postcode, course, pieces, and why you chose them

Classical Speech

•From Shakespeare or an Elizabethan/Jacobean playwright (Jonson, Marlowe, Webster, etc.)

•Must be originally written in English

•May be performed in your native language, but must also be accompanied by the same piece in English

Contemporary Speech

•Contemporary monologue written after 1960

Recall Self-Tape (Stage 2)

•One new classical speech following the same rules as Speech A, up to 2 minutes

Application Logistics

•Apply via RADA's online application form at rada.ac.uk (not through UCAS)

•Application fee: £39 non-refundable (waived if also applying for BA Acting)

•Once your application is submitted, you have two weeks to upload your self-tape video

•Same application form as BA (Hons) in Acting — you can apply for both simultaneously

•The most recent cycle (2026 entry, training starting September 2026) had a 14 January 2026 application deadline, which has passed

•RADA has not yet published the deadline for the next entry cycle; applications typically reopen in the autumn

•Note: RADA's Foundation course page may still display the closed cycle's 14 January 2026 deadline until it is updated for the next cycle

Important Notes

•This is a non-accredited course (non-HE) — does NOT attract government funding

•This course is non-visa-compliant — does not meet Standard or Student Visa requirements

•All participants must fund both fees and living costs privately

•No student loan eligibility for this course

•28 participants accepted per year

What's The Process

Audition Process

•Stage 1 — Preliminary Self-Tape: Submit one classical and one contemporary speech plus introduction; reviewed by two panel members

•Stage 2 — Recall Self-Tape: Submit a different classical speech plus a song (verse and chorus only); reviewed by three panel members

•Stage 3 — In-Person Group Workshop: Perform and workshop the 3 speeches from your self-tapes; includes movement, group dynamics, text analysis, and interview with course director

•Same application form as BA (Hons) in Acting — you can apply for both simultaneously

•If applying for both, you only pay the £39 fee once

•RADA auditions everyone who applies

•Foundation Course applicants may be redirected from BA (Hons) auditions if the panel believes it is a better fit

•Completing the Foundation Course does NOT guarantee a place on the BA (Hons) — you must re-audition, but skip the preliminary stage
