Prescreen Requirements

Songs

Requirements

Three songs, 2-3 minutes each

Three songs demonstrating different voice qualities

Each should be the full journey of a song, cut down to 2-3 minutes maximum

Accompaniment

Live accompaniment preferred but not penalized for using a backing track

If using a backing track, must be solo piano accompaniment — no orchestral backing tracks

Vocal Range Demonstration

Short demonstration of top and bottom of vocal range through sung arpeggios or octaves

Monologues

Requirements

One Contemporary monologue, 2 minutes max

Must be contemporary and naturalistic in style

Avoid poetical styles (e.g., Stephen Berkoff, Samuel Beckett)

Additional Materials

Slate Video (Required)

Record a full-body slate to camera stating your name, age, height, where you were born, and where you currently reside; slate as a separate take from your songs and scenes

Introduction Video (Required)

Record a spontaneous, unscripted introduction explaining your motivation to join the programme, 2 minutes maximum

Personality Questionnaire (Required)

Record a separate unscripted response to one published personality question, 45 seconds maximum

Headshot (Required)

Upload a headshot photograph

Resume (Required)

Upload a current CV

Repertoire List (Required)

List the works performed in the Round One recordings

Application Logistics

Submit the UCAS Conservatoires application first, then create the Acceptd profile with the same identity details and UCAS Personal ID

Select Musical Theatre as both the Program Group and program choice in Acceptd

The official course equal-consideration deadline is 13 January 2027 at 18:00 UK time

The closed Acceptd option separately displays a 14 January 2027 portal cutoff and is retained as a distinct date with a not-open caveat

Begin each filename with a brief description followed by your name

Eligibility

Postgraduate-level entry or equivalent experience

A PGCert route is available when the MA academic entry requirement is not met

What's The Process

Audition Process

Submit video recordings via Acceptd by 13 January 2027, 18:00 UK time

All material must be continuous, unedited, single takes

Panel may contact you via phone or video call after review; this does not indicate outcome

Audition Expectations

Round 2 held in London in April 2027 (by invitation only)

In-person attendance required; no virtual option for MT recalls

Tight/medium frame (chest up) for monologue and songs

Camera at eye level, not above or below

Do not look directly into camera during scenes

No additional reverb or pitch correction software

Degree and diploma applicants are considered through the audition process whether auditioning by video or in person

Disney Scholarship

Successful MA Musical Theatre audition candidates from underrepresented backgrounds may be invited to apply

Award includes a full tuition-fee waiver and support for living costs
