Self-Accompanied Song

Sing a song while accompanying yourself on piano or guitar; it may be a pop tune, children's song, original composition, or selection from a musical

Virtual applicants may submit this as a video alongside their audition videos (host on a filesharing site or YouTube with sharing permissions enabled)

Repertoire List

Prepare instrumental or vocal studio audition repertoire using the classical requirements for your instrument or voice area

Example repertoire expectations — Voice: two contrasting classical pieces (one 17th/18th-century Italian art song, one English art song); Strings: one three-octave scale and contrasting prepared solo pieces

A staff pianist is provided for the live studio audition where an accompanist is needed; the self-accompanied song is performed by the applicant

Admitted students take written and aural music theory placement exams — for course placement only, not admission; links are provided in the Applicant Status Portal
