Songs

Three Classical Selections

•Freshman BM applicants sing three appropriate pieces from classical repertoire

•Present contrasting styles and languages when possible

•Songs are preferred

•One Golden Age musical-theatre selection, written before 1965 or in that style, may be included if sung in a classical “legit” style

Preparation

•Perform all repertoire from memory

•Select music that demonstrates the current quality and potential of the voice

Accompaniment

•All classical voice auditions must be accompanied by piano

•CCPA provides an accompanist for Chicago auditions; applicants may bring their own

•Applicants auditioning at a regional location must arrange and pay for their accompanist

Additional Materials

Resume

•Submit a music résumé through the Artistic Application

Video

•The preview is not a prescreen and should not use audio or video enhancements

Letters of Recommendation

•Submit two letters of recommendation for BM admission

Transcript

•Submit official transcripts from all previously attended schools or institutions

Application Logistics

•Submit the Roosevelt University application first; Roosevelt does not charge a university application fee

•Then submit the CCPA Music Artistic Application through GetAcceptd

•The Artistic Application fee is $50; applicants may contact CCPA Admissions about a fee waiver

•Undergraduate music applicants are strongly encouraged to submit an Audition Preview through GetAcceptd

•Roosevelt explicitly states that the undergraduate preview is not a prescreen

•Do not use audio or video enhancements

Important Notes

•The Fall 2027 priority deadline for a guaranteed audition or interview is January 15, 2027

•Fall 2027 live auditions are planned for Saturdays in late January and early February; exact appointment dates are not yet published

What's The Process

Audition Process

•No prescreen recording is required for undergraduate Classical Voice

•Freshman BM applicants present three memorized classical selections

•CCPA provides an accompanist for Chicago auditions; regional applicants arrange their own

Audition Expectations

•CCPA offers live on-campus auditions

•Live virtual auditions may be arranged with the applicant’s CCPA counselor

•CCPA offers live on-campus auditions on Saturdays in late January and early February 2027

•Select live virtual audition times may be available on request

•Scheduling instructions are sent after the January 15 priority deadline

Scholarship Info

Ccpa Scholarship

•All applicants offered admission to CCPA are automatically considered

•Awards range from partial to full tuition

•Awards do not exceed tuition and do not cover fees, housing, meals, books, supplies, or personal expenses

Financial Aid

•U.S. citizens and permanent residents are strongly encouraged to complete the FAFSA by March 1
