Training
•Bullet: The Instrumental concentration requires a minimum of 59 semester hours, including Instrumental Methods I & II, Counterpoint, Form and Analysis, and Conducting, plus twelve semester hours of applied study on a primary instrument.
•Bullet: Coursework adds two semester hours in an instrumental chamber group or an approved professional/community ensemble, on top of eight semester hours of ensemble participation with at least six in concert band.
Performance & Productions
•Bullet: After passing a faculty recital hearing, instrumental majors perform a half junior recital and a full senior recital — 30 and 50 minutes of actual playing time — on their primary instrument.
Professional Development
•Bullet: The performance curriculum prepares graduates for graduate study or entrepreneurial activity in performance and private instrumental teaching, supported by six semesters of tracked recital attendance (MUS 020).
