Scholarship Audition and Interview Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Optional audition and interview for scholarship consideration only; they are not required for program admission.

Repertoire List

Voice: prepare one piece; expect vocalizing for range and some sight-singing

Winds or brass: prepare excerpts from two contrasting pieces totaling approximately 2-4 minutes and any major or minor scale

Percussion: prepare excerpts on two contrasting percussion instruments

Piano or organ: prepare two contrasting excerpts totaling approximately 2-4 minutes and a two-octave major or minor scale

Strings: prepare two contrasting excerpts totaling approximately 2-4 minutes and a two-octave major or minor scale

Guitar applicants may substitute a I-IV-V-I progression in two major or minor keys for the scale

Audition Process

The audition is for scholarship consideration and is not required for admission to the music major

Scholarship recipients commit to one Music Department ensemble each semester

The scholarship does not require a music major or minor

A faculty accompanist is provided for voice auditions; list repertoire on the form and bring a score
