Training
•Bullet: Electronic Digital Instrument (EDI) is the primary instrument of study: EDI Controllers I and II (MUST 200A/B) teach push-button controller technique, notation, major and minor fingering patterns, sight reading, and chord progressions
•Bullet: 32 required major units: a 25-unit Music Technology Core (Introduction to Music Technology, Introduction to the Music Business, Theory and Musicianship for Electronic Music I and II, Songwriting and Arranging I, Electronic Music I and II, and the two EDI Controllers courses), 4 units of EDI ensemble, and one history course
•Bullet: The program page states that no classical music background is required, and the curriculum focuses on the intersection of electronic digital instruments and electronic pop music styles
Performance & Productions
•Bullet: Crossroads Electronic Digital Instrument Pop Collective is taken twice (4 units): beginning-level rehearsal and public performance of beat-driven, grid-based electronic pop, including original student music and reinterpretations of existing songs
•Bullet: The program page lists live-session recording and collaboration with other rising artists as part of the training
Degree Flexibility
•Bullet: One history course is chosen from History of Electronic Music or History of Hip Hop; general education is met through Rio Hondo GE or Cal-GETC (CSU GE-Breadth or IGETC in some cases)
•Bullet: Rio Hondo's Bachelor of Science in Electronic Digital Instrument is a separate upper-division program: AS EDI students who want it must submit its supplemental application and portfolio
