Audition Requirements

Dance

DANCE CLASS (60 min)

Ballet and modern dance class
Ballet slippers required for ballet portion
Bare feet for modern portion
Arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork

PREPARED SOLO (1-2 min)

Solo of your choosing in any dance style
Tap dance is not preferred for auditions
Bring your own music — CD player and smartphone capability available

DANCE PHOTOS (required)

Two photos of yourself in dance poses showing lines of the body
Suggested poses: arabesque, tendu, attitude, etc.

What's The Process

AUDITION FORMAT

In-person audition on RIC campus at Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts
Two parts: 60-minute ballet and modern class followed by a prepared solo

ATTIRE

Form-fitting clothing that shows the lines of the body
No oversized clothing
Ballet slippers and bare feet required

TIMING

You do not need to be admitted to RIC before auditioning
Recommended to complete your admissions application by your audition date
