Audition Requirements

These requirements are from the Fall 2026 entry cycle. Fall 2027 requirements are typically posted between August and October and usually change only slightly — confirm on the official source before submitting.

Repertoire List

Prepare one lyrical or song-like etude or short solo

Prepare one contrasting, technically demanding etude or short solo

Each selection should generally be 3-5 minutes and musically complete

Standard accepted etudes are preferred; district honor band or all-state etudes are accepted

Scales & Technique

Be prepared to play major scales; all 12 are preferred

Rolling admissions

Only high school seniors who have applied to Reinhardt qualify for the free lesson-audition

Placement

Admitted students take a written music theory placement exam — for course placement only, it does not affect admission or scholarship

All BM majors complete a four-semester class piano sequence to demonstrate piano proficiency

Degree Requirements

Junior recital required (25 minutes minimum)

Senior recital required (50 minutes minimum)

Major performance ensemble required each full-time semester in residence

The get-acquainted lesson and conversation functions as the admission audition
