Audition Requirements

Monologues

TWO CONTRASTING CONTEMPORARY MONOLOGUES, 4 min total

One dramatic in tone, one comic
Both must be contemporary (post-1935)
Combined runtime must not exceed 4 minutes
Songs

SINGING OPTIONAL (VALUE ADDED)

If you choose to sing, limit to approximately 16-24 bars
Singing adds 1 additional minute (5 min total for all pieces)
Recommended: standard Broadway ballad or up-tempo song
Avoid classical opera or heavy rock-oriented material
Bring your own recorded accompaniment and a battery-operated playback device for in-person auditions
-Do not assume an electrical outlet will be available
-Phone connected to Bluetooth speaker is the most common approach

Submission Specifications

VIDEO FORMAT

Must be shot in landscape (horizontal) — do not shoot in portrait
Post to YouTube as "unlisted" and attach the link to your application

SLATE

Animate title cards before each piece if you have editing capabilities
-Include your name, the role portrayed, and the title of the play
-For songs, include the name of the song
If no editing capabilities, begin each piece with a simple spoken slate including the same information

APPLICATION PROCESS

Submit university application via Common App or Regent website
As part of the application, provide links to video clips of your audition
Regent Admissions will forward links to faculty for review

PROGRAM ENTRY

Students enter the BFA in Acting program in their second year upon successful audition and approval

NO APPLICATION FEE

Regent University does not charge an application fee
