Audition Process
•An entrance audition for the music faculty is required to be admitted to a music major
•The audition is completed during Scholarship Auditions or as a Fall Jury after the first semester of private instruction
•The scholarship audition can serve as the entrance audition for declaring a music major
•Auditionees are ranked by accomplishment, talent, potential, and need within each discipline
•Auditions evaluated by PLU Music Faculty
Audition Expectations
•In-person auditions on campus February 20-22, 2026
•Virtual auditions accepted via video submission through the Artistic Achievement Awards application
•Prepare 5 minutes of music demonstrating both musicality and technique
Teaching Pathway
•Students begin the music education course sequence as sophomores
•Application to the BME program is prepared in MUSI 240 (sophomore year) and includes a personal statement on why you wish to teach, a recommendation, and evaluation forms from your studio teacher and ensemble director
•Admission to the School of Education requires completion of WRIT 101 and PSYC 101
