Scholarship Audition and Interview Requirements

Optional audition and interview for scholarship consideration only; they are not required for program admission.

Scholarship Audition Repertoire (Optional)

•Audition on a principal applied area (voice, keyboard, strings, woodwind, brass, or percussion) using that area's published scholarship-audition requirements

-Voice: two memorized songs or arias in contrasting styles and tempi; a second language is required only of performance majors

-Keyboard: two works from different periods, with at least one memorized for pianists; prepare a major scale and possible sight-reading

-Strings: two contrasting etudes or solos, major or minor scales up to three sharps and flats, and possible sight-reading

-Woodwinds and brass: solo or etude excerpts, major scales up to three sharps and flats, a full-range chromatic scale, and possible sight-reading

-Percussion: prepared work in at least two of snare drum, keyboard percussion, and timpani, with possible sight-reading

•The official Music Minor page is current and links the 2026–27 catalog

•Pitt State publishes no separate program-admission application for the minor

What's The Process

Audition Process

•No audition or interview is published as a requirement to enter the Music minor

•Music minors are explicitly eligible for optional Music Department scholarships awarded through an interview and audition

•Current on-campus dates are the Music Major Test Drive and Audition Day on Nov. 13, 2026, and Music Scholarship Audition Day on Feb. 19, 2027

•Friday scholarship auditions are also available by appointment while classes are in session

•Video auditions may be requested by international or long-distance applicants; this restricted alternative is arranged with the Music office
