Songs

Two Contrasting Songs

Two contrasting songs from the musical theatre repertoire

A 2-minute cut is ideal; songs must not exceed 3 minutes

Choose songs you can act through, comfortably within your range

No classical repertoire or opera

Bring sheet music in the correct key and cut for the pianist, or arrange a backing track in advance

Monologues

Two Contrasting Monologues

One contemporary monologue from a published play written post-2000

One contrasting monologue of your choice from any era, genre, or source

Around 2 minutes each, ideally a character close to your own age

Must not be sections of film or TV scripts

Dance

Dance Workshop

Musical theatre jazz-based class assessing technique and performance

Includes a warm-up, technical combinations across the floor, and a short choreographic sequence

Suitable for all levels of experience

Transfer Pathway

Applicants with relevant prior study may request direct entry to Year 2 or Year 3 of the BA (Hons) Musical Theatre through Performers College's Recognition of Prior Learning review. The college assesses prior attainment and transferable credit against the requested course level.

What's The Process

Audition Process

Live audition held on campus November to March

Online self-tape audition available for those unable to attend in person

Student ambassador Q&A; some applicants may be recalled for an individual interview with a member of the course leadership team

Outcome notified within two weeks; conditional or unconditional offer confirmed via UCAS Track

Audition Expectations

Singing: perform your two prepared songs with a pianist

Dance: musical theatre jazz-based workshop

Acting: perform your prepared monologue(s); you may be directed

Musical Theatre Performance: ensemble extract taught on the day (no preparation needed)

Scholarship Info
