•Fully accredited career and technical education (CTE) program through Allan Hancock College
Training
•Two-year vocational program places students in classrooms, production labs/shops, and PCPA theatres while they build skills in costumes, drafting, lighting, props, scenic construction and painting, sound, stage management, self-marketing, and interview preparation
•First-year students rotate through technical-theatre areas; in year two they spend more time in shops aligned with their career goals
•Training follows a master/apprentice model and professional standards while students work alongside industry professionals
Professional Development
•The 12-student cohort attends the USITT national conference in its second year to interview for jobs or pursue the next educational step
•Graduates have been sought by Disney, Cirque du Soleil, ZFX, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Santa Fe Opera, and Norwegian Cruise Lines; named next-step schools include Royal Conservatory of Scotland, Cal State Fullerton, Penn State, and Southern Oregon University
•PCPA reports that 100% of its technical-theatre graduates over the preceding five years were paid as technicians within one year of graduation
