Popular Music Audition

Perform two contrasting selections representing the genre you intend to study

Instrumentalists perform major and minor scales and sight-read

Applicants may also present relevant songwriting, arranging, performance, or recording work

Good to Know

Application Logistics

Submit the university application and the College of the Arts application separately.

Complete a live audition and interview before initial enrollment; a video may be accepted for provisional consideration when travel is impractical.

Materials and audition should be complete at least six weeks before the first term.

Transfer Pathway

BA Popular Music Industry transfer applicants receive music-theory placement review through entrance examinations; the Music Department evaluates transfer theory credit after those assessments.

What's The Process

Audition Process

Complete a live audition and faculty interview; a video is accepted only for provisional consideration when a live audition is impractical.

Approval is based on audition, interview, and review of previous work.

Placement testing covers piano study, theory, and musicianship; transfer theory credit is evaluated after entrance examinations.

Last-Published Fall 2026 Cycle

The official page still lists November 21 and December 6, 2025; February 7, March 7, and April 18, 2026, with priority scholarship consideration before March 20. Fall 2027 dates are not yet published.
