Training
•Speech study includes Fundamentals of Public Speaking, Introduction to Communications, Small Group Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Teaching Speech in the K-12 Classroom, and Argumentation and Debate.
•Theatre study includes Introduction to the Theatre, two semesters of Theatre Practicum, Acting 1 and 2, Fundamentals of Stagecraft, Teaching Theatre in the K-12 Classroom, Theatre History, Play Directing, and Creative Drama for Classroom Teachers.
•This integrated major gives future educators both communication and theatre coursework rather than a single-subject theatre sequence.
Professional Development
•The education major includes Foundations of Education, Instructional Technology, Child and Adolescent Development, Teaching Exceptional Learners, Learning Theories & Assessment Practices, two student-teaching seminars, Student Teaching I and II, Secondary Methods and Classroom Management, and Composition II.
•Admission to the Teacher Education Program and Praxis II testing are required steps in the published K-12 licensure pathway.
