•OU's School of Dance traces to a department founded in 1961 by Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo principals Miguel Terekhov and Yvonne Chouteau, becoming a full School of Dance in 1998.
•Dance Magazine has consistently ranked OU's School of Dance among the top three in the nation.
Training
•The Ballet Performance BFA centers on classical performance, with major work in ballet technique, pointe, performance practices, choreography, dance history, and production.
•Students audition into Oklahoma Festival Ballet, the school's classical company, building stage experience inside a professional-style production model.
Performance & Productions
•Oklahoma Festival Ballet carries a repertoire of over 50 ballets, giving dancers consistent performance opportunities each season.
•OFB and Contemporary Dance Oklahoma are among the few college-based companies to tour internationally — Japan, Mexico, Ecuador, Paraguay, Taiwan, China, and France — and have earned awards at the American College Dance Festival plus reviews in Dance Magazine and The New York Times.
